I find its best to scale out of the trade. So I divide my trade into three separate trades.
If I was trading say 0.06 I would have three separate trades each for 0.02 lots.
Then when the trade reached 1:2 profit. That means if I risked 50 pips and made 100 pips I would close two of the trades at 0.02. Now I’ve just risked 50 pips but banked 100 pips. Great, I can relax now, the pressure is off.
I would then leave the third trade and move the stop loss to above break even. Don’t worry if you get stopped out, which will be most of the time. The aim is to try and catch a runner. You may of caught the beginning of a new trend.
The times this works out will pay for the times you got stopped out.
I have caught 400 pip to 700 pip runs this way.
